Los Alamos County Municipal Court Judge Elizabeth Allen swears in new School Board member Sondra Wyman recently in the School Boardroom on Trinity Drive. Wyman is filling the vacancy in district 5, which resulted from the resignation of School Board member Erin Green. Wymans three children attended Los Alamos Public Schools, including Mountain Elementary School. She worked for Los Alamos Public Schools for four years, first as a substitute teacher, then as a special education instructional assistant and then as Los Alamos High School Athletic Secretary before pursuing a career in the procurement field. She has also held volunteer and employment positions with several non-profit organizations in Los Alamos.District 5 includes Mountain Elementary School. COUNTY News:Do you know of a local business that goes above and beyond when it comes to recycling Los Alamos County Environmental Services is calling for nominations for the second annual Business Recycler of the Year Award. The contest is open to Los Alamos County businesses of all sizes. Nominate your own businesses, your employer, or your favorite local sustainable retailer/restaurant. Send the business name and a brief description explaining stanley usa the nomination to angelica.gurule@lacnm.usRecycling is a big step businesses can take to create a more sustainable operation, but it can take a little extra thought and effort. The County wants to r stanley france ecognize those businesses who are committing the necessary resources to waste reduction and recycling.The Business Recycler of the Year Award is a great avenue to promote recycling in the business community and get more businesses participating in the program. The County recently lowered the fees associated with business recycling and expanded the recycling program to include many more ac gourde stanley ceptable items. Recycling conserves resources, protects the environment and results in cost savings.The nomination period will be open until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19. Los Alamos County Environmental Sustainability Board and Environmental Services staff will judge entries and narrow them down to the top three finalists.
