Volterra isn't only one of the most charming places of Tuscany, for its history and its beauty: Volterra gives special attention for who usually use to travel with a dog or a cat. It's typical of Volterra's people to have a pet in tow, so much so that most of the public places (bars, restaurants, and even some bank!) are pets friendly.
Pets can access into the Roman theater, into the Acropolis and into the Etruscan Municipal Art Gallery. Ino the Etruscan museum Guarnacci (one of the largest in Europe), there is a small garden attached where you can leave your pet during the visit.
There are also news for Spring 2013: probably will be organized ,through a local animal rights association , a free dog-sitting service for those wishing to visit these places in peace.
